it was another beautiful morning walk to dustin's work...on the way, we stopped into a church which has been nicknamed 'the sistine chapel of edinburgh.' it was a romanesque stone structure which had beautiful frescoes on the ceilings and an ornate glowing altar. they were doing work inside so the pews were removed and we slipped in via a construction entrance. so cool! on the way back to our hotel i spotted a beautiful flower shop too. after coming back and reading up on some places, i headed out, had a bite to eat, and went to the fruitmarket gallery (the myth of the west) and the city art center (ansel adams). the exhibits were wonderful and the cafe at the city art center was cozy. afterwards, i explored john lewis - a huge modern department store near our hotel. it was full of busybodies and apparently linked up with the overhead walkway we'd been passing under all week. dustin and i met after he finished up with work and went to a very close, and very yummy local restaurant nearby called the 'basement.' the place was tiny and the food was spectacular! we turned in early in preparation for a day at the castle on dustin's first day off!
