we just had a wonderful weekend in Austin – somewhat of an anniversary celebration since we figure our anniversary might be a little crazy next week. it started with getting my ring all fixed up in sugarland before we left…talk about peace of mind. then, when we got to austin, dustin and i had dinner at shady grove (huge surprise, i know), walked over to barton springs, had a beer at doc’s, and then stayed at the hyatt on town lake. we sat out on the back veranda that evening and got to see the party cruise boat return from a night of sailing…reminded us of our aloha cruise after the wedding. it was amazing how many wonderful memories came back as we were walking and driving all over town. our adoration for austin was ebbing. saturday we went and had a bagel and read the paper at einstein's and then met katy and matt and headed to emma long. andee and aaron, nick and monica, gabby and mike, and jason were all there and set up from camping friday night. andee has got to be the most prepared person i know – between she and monica, we had every condiment, tupperware, and utensil one would ever need…and i haven’t even told you about the bikes andee brought so you didn’t have to walk the quarter mile to the potties! they certainly have it all figured out. dustin and i, katy and matty, and mike and angeli showed up around lunch time and went out on the boat a couple of times with the crew – matty and dustin did awesome wakeboarding. the water felt wonderful and the fresh air was the best therapy. we had great fajitas for dinner, compliments of nick's grilling, and classy ‘emma long s’mores’ compliments of andee and aaron’s secret recipe. we sat around a ‘campfire’ (lantern) until late and everyone crawled into their tents to crash. the morning was beautiful and cool and after breakfast, we said our goodbyes and had to head back to houston. we had dinner with mom, dad, kev, and granddad at two rows in houston and then they took a carload of things back to san antonio for us. it is officially moving time. we are eating on paper plates and all the clothes we are taking have been ‘space bag sealed’. (those things are awesome by the way...talk about therapy!) we are getting a lot done this week and just trying to wrap up one million things before we head out. we’re looking forward to friday’s festivities and seeing all our friends one last time before we head to scotland. let the good times roll...to see the rest of our camping pics from emma long, go here.
