this week has been mostly rainy and we've been missing the eurocup entertainment in the evenings. however, we enjoyed seeing murray (the scottish tennis player) play like a madman at wimbledon. the locals have been all abuzz about his progress in the tournament. who would have thought we'd become tennis watchers?! dustin has been working pretty long hours at work this week in preparation for a week out of the office and i have been all over the city working on the last portions of my study abroad documentation, to complete the work for my class. after visiting most of the main attractions in the city last week, i've spent the past few days discovering buildings and galleries that are a bit off of the beaten path. it has made for some pretty interesting adventures and i've only had to ask for directions a couple of times. :) i've managed to photograph some incredible buildings, both old and new, which commonly sit side by side in the city....often colliding in a pretty beautiful way. some of the more modern buildings i've seen are the scottish poetry library (below) and dancebase (edinburgh's premier dance studio). wednesday i went out to the dean gallery and the scottish museum of modern art. both had huge lawns and the open space was a refreshing change from the confines of the cobblestone city. the galleries were a bit outside of our bubble so it was a nice excursion and may have expanded our current understanding of the city's outter limits. :)
