after amanda came in early february, we were lucky to have my wonderful girlfriends lisa and vanessa come to edinburgh. they came for a week after visiting london and we had such a great time. (much more fun than all the long hours logged together in our UH studio over the past couple of years!) we also went to rosslyn chapel and while the girls were touring, dustin and i went on a five mile hike along the adjacent river esk and through the rosslyn glen. it was amazing. needless to say, while the girls were in edinburgh, we ate, drank, and were very merry. only a few (frantic) days of studying and packing after their departure, and i headed to texas...leaving dustin to relax and enjoy having all 600 sf. to himself.
during my two week stay in texas, i visited houston, college station, san antonio, port aransas, austin, and dallas. (thank god gas is back under $2/gallon!) two tests, two spurs games, a sunburn, and a structures seminar later, i was in the continental presidents club lounge in new york (compliments of lisa), heading back to scotland, trying to figure out where the last month had gone.
dustin had a temporary return to bachelorhood, which involved steak, potatoes, and blue moon beer from peckhams. i arrived into edinburgh at 7am yesterday morning and, much to my surprise, dustin had gotten up in the fives to surprise me at the airport...little did he know he'd be helping me home with my three bags (full of canned mexican food and textbooks) weighing nearly 50 lbs. each. we're one happy family again, and the blessings of spring in scotland are upon us: the flowers are all in bloom, we're reaching the mid 50's, and the sun is shining...perfect weather for our upcoming 95 mile west highland way hike.
thank you to our neighbors here in scotland for ensuring that dustin did not go hungry while i was away, and thank you to all my friends and family for, among other things, copious amounts of mexican food and your guest bedroom.
go here for february pictures (lisa & vanessa's visit/rosslyn hike) and here for the texas trip...
