bratwurst and bicycles

thanks to ryan air's absurdly cheap airfare last weekend (and our ability to wear the same clothes for three days straight), we threw a few things into a backpack and jumped on a direct flight from edinburgh to berlin! with only a few days to prepare, we had a lengthy list of sites to see and no clue what an enormous place germany's capitol would be. we walked, biked, and boated throughout the city and after three days, finally got the lay of the land. berlin's history, culture, and architecture are absolutely fascinating. we couldn't help but acknowledge houston-like tendencies in the sprawling and newly-sprouted landscape, intertwined with deeply-rooted prussian structures...making the city an unpredictable labyrinth, excellent for exploring. from the reichstag to the jewish museum, the philharmonie to potsdamer platz, the remains of the berlin wall to checkpoint charlie, we were fascinated by pre and post-war sights and stories. we made sure to sample the german delicacies, devouring bratwurst and hefeweizen at street markets and sunny beirgartens along the way.

our trip in photographs....go here!
