so homeownership...yea, it has been a wild and blessed ride for which we are appreciative every day. we didn’t actually see it coming either. we had a hunch that we might go ahead and look at homes this past summer as our apartment lease was coming to an end but we never imagined we’d stumble upon the perfect home and move in so quickly. the timing was pretty crazy, looking back. i had been working at my office for only a few months, we were preparing to head to scotland for emily and simon’s wedding, and we were also training for the upcoming half marathon. naturally, we ended up closing on the house just days before our overseas journey, so each evening after work, we found ourselves painting walls, ceilings, and cabinets into the wee hours of the night, trying to get the place ready for move-in upon our return. after 13 days of non-stop painting, the house was painted, the newlyweds were on their way to sri lanka, and we were fresh off a 24 hour journey, watching movers haul boxes into our new home...on my 30th birthday as it turns out. talk about a windfall of events all within a very short space of time!
after getting all the boxes unpacked, we decided to celebrate my big 3-0 by watering the lawn and enjoying a few ice cold lone star beers in the front yard. just a couple of kids keepin’ it classy in south austin.
