our housewarming

talk about feeling blessed.  this time last year, we were at lynton and raimonda’s wedding in lithuania, still plotting our return to america without any guarantee of where we would end up.  365 days later, we found ourselves welcoming friends and family from near and far into our very own home (!) – making the first of what we hope are many future memories on frontier trail.  the bags are unpacked, the (still bare!) walls are painted, and we aren’t going anywhere for a while.  it feels good to know that we can actually order return address labels.  (it’s the little things!)  we had a large turnout for our housewarming party with friends and family coming from as far as san antonio and houston to be with us.  we had a delicious spread of fajitas (thanks to grill master preston!), pork tacos, queso, and bacon-wrapped dove (thanks uncle don!) which kept everyone full, followed by aggie football running into the evening.  it was fun showing everyone before and after photos of the house because, despite still needing a lot of work. the house has changed quite a bit from the day we received the keys.  it felt great to host for all our loved ones and finally return the favor, under the strands of festive white fairy lights strewn about in the backyard.  spending time with these special individuals in a place that feels settled is a simple blessing which we will never take for granted after being transient for nearly 12 years.  thanks to all who came, we look forward to periodic visits so you can track our progress as we continue to improve the interior as well as coerce the grass to cover the remainder of the property!
